Get Covered!

No matter where you live Health Insurance is a good thing to have. Accidents do happen and you never know when you get sick. By Law we are required to have one (Employer based, Marketplace, Medicaid, private or MediCare). If you don't you may have to pay penalty when you file your Federal tax. You are exempt if you are undocumented or incarcerated.

Your eligibility depends on how much income you and your family make. If you earn less than 138% of Federal Poverty Level (FPL), you qualify Medicaid (Medi-Cal in CA). Then you can enroll any time. If your income is more you may shop Health Insurance through the Marketplace during Open Enrollment Period or Special enrollment with your life event.

Available Health Insurances depend on where you live, and premium you have to pay changes by your age and the tier of Health Insurance you choose (Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum; the more you pay every month for your premium better the coverage when you need care.) How much financial help you can get depends on your income and family size. You can find out how much you can save using subsidy calculator.

If you own a small business and are willing to offer your employees coverage, please check out CoveredCA for Small Business in CA, or SHOP Program (Small Business Health Options Program) Nationwide. You may be eligible for a tax credit. Giving your employee Health Coverage can get you the edge to hire and keep good employees.
